I wonder how long...

this:

will suffice as my Christmas gift hiding spot.  I've gone crazy with Lily's gifts... it is the most fun thing in the world! Hiding all of Lily's presents behind this chair in our bedroom makes me laugh because I think of the great lengths that Suzanne and I took to find our presents.  I'm pretty sure I would have never been successful if I hadn't had such an evil genius of sister, who to this day can't handle surprises.  I can remember as a fairly small child waiting giddily, watching the door, as Suzanne poked through my dad's desk for receipts and then deciphered their codes, stealing keys and sneaking out while my parents watched t.v. in the evening to check their trunks, and scouring every inch of the closet door that we knew the presents were waiting behind to figure out why our parents would leave us alone knowing they were there.  The mastermind of the operation (Suzanne) found a tiny piece of clear tape in the top corner of the door frame that would disconnect if we opened it... revealing our crime.  Quite pleased with herself, Suz opened the door... we got down the shopping bags... looked through our presents... put them all back and sealed the tape to the door again!  If I remember correctly, Suzanne felt jipped as I hit the jackpot and  all she found for herself was a new Bible... probably on purpose.

Lily is showing to take after her aunt in quite a few ways... but she's going to have to be pretty creative to get anything by me. I've had a lifetime of apprenticeship to the one who wrote the book.

Ahhh....good memories. What would you have done without me? Also, remember how I used to unwrap one end of presents for us that came from other family members and then rewrapped them. I guess I have a serious problem with surprises. It all goes back to my control issues :)

my mom does the SAME thing! i didnt ever think id meet someone like her. i always heard the stories of her skipping school, coming back home and reopening all of her gifts. she'd then rewrap them perfectly and no one was the wiser.it wasn't until a few years ago i realized she had done it to all of my gifts too. i started hiding them at other people's houses or wrapping them SOOO terrible that there would be no way of getting in it without detection. she hates surprises too! funny! you guys are silly!

Okay, so I way underestimated the two of you. I knew about the closet but I didn't know that you looked at the reciepts and looked in the trunk while we were watching tv. Amazing. Love you all, Nana

That is hilarious!! That sure beats me and my brothers' attempts at sneaking around! Of course, we never had to really look too hard. My parents always just put our gifts under their bed. :-)
