We've come a long way... but not quite long enough!

Last night, at 2 a.m., I was awoken by contractions coming 10 minutes apart... then 6... then 4. They were growing in intensity, my lower back ached, I pretty much had every symptom except my water breaking. I was skeptical, however, because the pain was manageable, but alarmed that they kept getting closer together every hour. While feeling very proud of my high tolerance to labor pain, I didn't know if I could handle having to deliver the baby naturally at home with Jeff as my midwife. So... I called the doctor and they said to come in... so we made the hour drive at 6:20, arrived at 7:30 and were dismissed by about 8:00. Disappointed... yes. Embarrassed... a little. Scared that these contractions could continue for the next week... quite a bit.

The doctor thinks we'll have a Lily in the next couple of days. Who knows... she could be a July 4th baby. Not quite as cool as 07-07-07... but 3 full days earlier... which is becoming cooler to me by the minute... or by the contraction.

She did end up with a cool b-day. Lily is a beautiful little fire cracker. She made a brilliant sparkle into our family. God is so good! Being a grandparent is an awesome blessing.
