What are better than diamonds to a homemaker?

P4224827

Just in time for EARTH day... our new high efficiency washer/dryer came in.  With my dad being ill, I had to be the  'muscles' that helped Jeffrey load and unload.  If we didn't have such a messy baby... I might have suggested we wait until he felt better.

So... at least we can feel like we're  doing SOMETHING for the environment, especially after my daily patronage of Storm's to get a large coke in a STYROFOAM cup... dun, dun, dun!  We didn't stop there... just to be good Americans, we went with the Whirlpool (manufactured in Michigan) instead of the equally priced but quieter, LG (manufactured in Korea.)

So... I'll hold my head high in outdated fashions because we spent TOO much money for the sake of doing some good... at least they'll be CLEAN!

Want to know what the saddest thing in the world is...

watching a baby wake up to dry heave every 15 minutes.

My 3 vomit covered shirts tell me that Lily has caught Luke's stomach bug. Bad time to not have a washer and dryer and I'm regretting giving her jello at supper. It's IMPOSSIBLE to get out of carpet.

Here are the two best buds sharing MORE THAN JUST THEIR TOYS on Wednesday...

By the way... correction from last post: I did the math and those drawings are from 1991-2... which doesn't sound like much-- but means the difference between elementary and middle school.

Project Runway here I come!

Unfortunately our dryer went out and the new one won't be here until next Tuesday... FORTUNATELY I was over at my parents' house doing laundry and stumbled upon these gems (circa 1994) in an old binder in my closet.

Look how fashion forward I was as a child.  It appears I dreamed up some fabulous pants that have a little elastic band that goes under your heel.  And I can't tell you how many times during my pregnancy I was SEARCHING for an outfit with a built in tie!  I think suspenders with an ankle skirt and hiking boots could become the new 'little black dress'.

I also think it is sweet that I was planning to give modeling jobs to the handicapped  according to my depiction of the model of the 'summer fashions'

Even after all the moves, my parents' home is still a virtual treasure trove of embarrassing memorabilia of my childhood. When you're least expecting it, (like when bringing your future husband over for a visit) you'll find something like this or a cassette tape of a fake radio show you recorded and the dj calls everyone 'sports fans' AND sings the jingle.

It truly is a wonder Jeff still married me!

Where did everybody go?

has to be the question on Lily's mind.  She said goodnight to her mom, dad, mamma, and cousin Jonah... and woke to just her mom.  I tried to keep her busy with a trip to visit Aunt Suzanne and cousin Luke today.

We loved having Carla and Jonah come to Texas to visit us.  There was quite a bit of shopping done, playing catch, going for walks, kayaking, sewing lessons, going for treats at Storm's and Sonic, and just having Lily entertain us all.

She's really become a HAM over the last week... the nut doesn't fall far from the tree.  I can see magic shows and newscasts from the dinner table in her future.  I wonder if I'll become like a stage mother coaching her from behind the family video camera.

I digress...

Here are some photo highlights from our long weekend.

scrapbook pages that I've finished.  I finally decided to call it good on the Christmas one that I've been working on forever... and still hate.

With Jeff's mom here for a few days... I'm hoping I can get caught up!
